Being back in Bavaria gave me a chance to get back to Munich and meet with a good friend! It had been 8 years or so since I was last there and on that occasion too I had met Damaris. My one regret was not being able to stay for several days as it is such a wonderful city.

For some unknown reason I had not gone to one of the big beer halls on my first visit but remedied this with lunch at the famous Hofbrauhaus on this occasion. Of course there is far too much to see in one day so after wandering around town for a while we went out to the Olympic Park. It has just reached its 30th anniversary but still looks great and the architectural design and withstood the test of time. From the Olympic Tower you get a great view of the city and beyond.

Upon returning to the city we climbed the steps of the tower at St Peter's church for another arial view, this time right in the middle of Munich. Brilliant!

One of the things I love about Bavaria is the sense of tradition and seeing so many people in traditional dress. With my love for the food (and beer) I think that maybe I was born in the wrong place and should really have been a Bavarian!
