Bennett's woodpecker

Bennett's woodpecker (Campethera bennettii)

This is the only woodpecker with small spots on its underparts, males are identified by their entirely red crown and facial streak resembling a moustache. Females are identified by their brown facial and throat patches.

Solitary, in pairs when breeding or sometimes in small groups. They forage about 70% of the time on the ground, also on branches and trunks of larger trees. Their flight is undulating.
